Donald Fontlroy Duck – this is his full name – whose first film appearance was in a supporting role in The Wise Little Hen (1934), which was an episode of Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies series of cartoon shorts. But by the end of 1937 as this character was molding Donald had become one of the main personages of Disney’s films. During World War II, Donald starred in patriotic film cartoons such as Der Fuehrer's Face and grew even more popular than his friend Mickey Mouse.
